Atticus

Atticus AHR 217312 (Dharanad x Fairy Queen) is a 1980 chestnut Davenport Arabian stallion, bred by Charles C. Craver III.

Reference dam: Fairy Queen

"Atticus is every inch a Kuhaylan, muscular with a moderately upright neck and a nicely masculine appearance. Legs and feet are correct. He has a harmoniously balanced body. His neck seems somewhat short at first glance, but closer consideration indicates that he is so compact and muscular that everything about him seems short and that it is actually in good balance with the rest of his body. He has a pleasing head with a straight profile. In disposition, he inclines to be quiet and sweet. He is a little smaller than most horses in non-Fasal breeding (14 hh). This may be partly because he was the twilight foal of a mare which never did have a very good uterus since a foaling problem with her first foal.

"The individuality of Atticus well justifies his use as a stallion. In addition, there are features of his pedigree indicating he has a special contribution to make to non-Fasal breeding. He does not trace to Dharebah, El Alamein, or Sir. These are prominent animals in non-Fasal breeding, and to a perhaps precious degree Atticus provides an outcross to them. As an own son of Fairy Queen, we can hope that he will bring the influence of the best performance individual of modern Davenport breeding to a substantial group of foals." Charles & Jeanne Craver, 1985

In May of 2003, R.J. Cadranell obtained Atticus from Craver Farms and he was sent to Michael Bowling in Davis, California. He was bred to several mares and semen was also frozen. In May 2004, Atticus moved to Washington state. That summer, he was started under saddle at age 24.
